Bringing premier quality championships
to Scottish heavy athletics at the masters' level

Scottish Masters Athletics International, LLC, or SMAI, is an organization of athletes for the purpose of
promoting and advancing Scottish heavy athletics at the masters' level.  SMAI is also the proprietary owner
of the Masters World Championships.  There is currently no charge for an athlete to "belong" to SMAI and the only
requirement is that the athlete be over age 40.
 
For an athlete to belong to SMAI they need only complete the member registration accessed below.  
The benefits of registration include:
 
        1.  Listing in the membership pages of this web site.;
        2.  Participation in the "Virtual Game" contained in the web site; and
        3.  Inclusion in the SMAI email group which disseminates information to athletes on a timely basis.

Activities of the Scottish Masters Athletics International, LLC, include:

        1.  Governing all aspects of the Masters World Championship games each year;
        2.  Collecting and maintaining Masters' World records by age class; 
        3.  Maintaining a "virtual game" reflecting the best results of each registered athlete each
             year and resulting in an annual ranking of masters' athletes by age class;
        4.  Sanctioning of other championship games which are conducted according to SMAI standards;
        5.  Encouraging all games to include masters' classes in their athletic competitions;
        6.  Aid athletic directors in publicizing their games to masters athletes;
        7.  Promoting camaraderie and communication among masters athletes; 
        8.  Maintaining a database of masters athletes and publishing a masters roster;
        9.  Collecting and disseminating information of interest to masters athletes via this web site and email;
        10.  Sale of an annual T-Shirt to help defray the costs of the web site.
